Description

  • Seaford, East Sussex
  • On The Wedding Experts since October 2026

Florence House is a 1929 country house at the foot of Seaford Head in East Sussex, on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Built of Purbeck stone with a Cornish slate roof, it stands in 6 acres of gardens, including a walled garden and a kitchen garden, a short walk from the beach. As well as weddings, the house hosts retreats, workshops and conferences.

The house is licensed for weddings and civil partnerships. Ceremonies take place in the main reception room, which seats up to 120 guests and has three sets of French doors opening onto the lawn, looking towards Seaford Head. The walled garden suits drinks and canapés after the ceremony, the front lawn can take a marquee for a larger reception, and the evening can end with a bonfire in the grounds.

Venue hire gives exclusive use of the house and its grounds, with the three-bedroom cottage included for the wedding party on the day and the evening before. Up to 31 guests can stay in the house on a bed and breakfast basis, and camping is available. Couples bring in their own caterer, with two recommended by the venue. Florence House has been run by the Colleary family since 2004.
