This policy explains what personal data The Wedding Experts UK collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.
It covers this website, theweddingexperts.uk, our pages on Facebook and Instagram, and any forms in our adverts on those platforms.
1. Who we are

In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean The Wedding Experts OU.
2. What we collect
Details you give us
- When you register your business on this website: the category of work you do, your name or business name, and your email address.
- When you fill in a form in one of our adverts on Facebook or Instagram: the details that form asks for, such as your name, email address, business name and category. Meta passes these to us when you submit the form.
- When you email us or message our Facebook or Instagram pages: your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us.
Details collected automatically
- Usage data: the pages you visit, the buttons you click, how far you scroll, whether a form was sent, the page that referred you, and campaign tags in the link you followed.
- Device data: browser, operating system, screen size, approximate location derived from your IP address, and identifiers stored in cookies.
- Server logs: our hosting provider records IP addresses and request details to deliver and protect the website.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, special category data such as health, religion or ethnicity.
3. How we use it and why
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal data. Ours are:

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed them against your rights. You can object at any time, as explained in section 8.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This website uses the following:

The page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when it downloads them. This page, the privacy policy, loads no analytics or advertising tags.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. You can control how Meta uses data for advertising in your Meta ad preferences. Blocking cookies does not stop the website working.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the website and the service, and only as far as they need it:
- GitHub hosts this website and keeps server logs.
- FormSubmit receives the sign-up form and delivers it to our mailbox.
- Our email provider stores the emails we send and receive.
- Google provides Google Analytics and Google Fonts.
- Meta Platforms Ireland provides the Meta Pixel, our Facebook and Instagram pages, and lead forms in our adverts. For some of this processing Meta and we are joint controllers. Meta's own use of data is covered by the Meta Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or to a buyer or successor if our business is reorganised or sold. In that case this policy continues to apply.
When our service opens to couples, the details you choose to publish in your business profile, such as your business name and category, will be visible to the public. That is the purpose of a listing. Your email address is not published unless you ask us to show it.
6. Transfers outside the UK
We are based in Estonia, in the European Economic Area. The UK recognises the EEA as providing adequate protection for personal data.
Some of our service providers, including Google, Meta, GitHub and FormSubmit, may process data in the United States or other countries. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or another safeguard recognised under UK law. You can ask us for details.
7. How long we keep it
- Sign-up and lead form details: for as long as you have a profile with us. If you never go on to use the service, we delete them 24 months after our last contact with you.
- Emails and messages: up to 24 months after the conversation ends, unless they relate to an active profile.
- Analytics data: no longer than 14 months in Google Analytics.
- Records we must keep by law: for the period the law sets.
If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data;
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests, including for marketing, which we will always stop;
- ask for data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. It is free, and we will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. To stop emails from us, reply to any of them and say so.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Security
The website is served only over HTTPS, and access to our mailbox and accounts is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you and the regulator about a breach where the law requires it.
10. Children
Our service is for wedding businesses and adults planning a wedding. It is not aimed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our service or the law changes, and change the date at the top of the page when we do. If a change significantly affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
